Emrys began his journey with Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2015, initially as a Regional Business Manager, he then advanced to a national position, which culminated in his promotion to Operations Director and then to Managing Director.

As Managing Director, Emrys empowers our teams to uphold our commitment to providing an ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated service. As part of this, Emrys ensures everyone possesses the necessary skills and resources to expand their knowledge and adapt to the evolving healthcare system, enabling them to achieve a fulfilling career.

In his role, Emrys ensures the TCS strategic priorities align with our parent company, Acacium Group and their overall mission of becoming the leading global healthcare solutions partner.

From a young age, Emrys has always had a passion for improving people’s lives. He grew up in a residential home that cared for individuals with learning disabilities and autism and witnessed a growing need for individuals to receive person-centred care and support at home and in their local community. Being raised in this environment encouraged him to contribute positively to society and provide additional assistance to individuals with various care requirements, enabling them to receive exceptional care at home.

In 2017, Ian joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) and has since advanced in his profession at TCS, acquiring extensive expertise in business development and building and expanding connections with integrated care boards (ICBs), regional health boards and private clients.

As Director of Growth at TCS, Ian leads the Growth Team and coordinates with various departments to drive the company’s development and growth.

His main focus is maintaining and expanding partnerships with ICBs, upholding our ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rating, and delivering comprehensive care solutions to adults and children across England and Wales.

Ian’s expertise and skills in business development are crucial in ensuring that we are in line with our principles and positioned well in the healthcare sector. This allows us to support more people and create tailored short-term or long-term care plans that meet their exact needs and requirements.

Clare Metcalfe

Clare joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2019 as Head of our Learning Disabilities and Autism Service. She then progressed to Registered Manager and Chief Nurse overseeing our learning disabilities, autism, and mental health service.

In her role, Clare collaborates with our other Chief Nurse, Thomas Dowle, to supervise all clinical aspects across our various TCS services. This ensures that we can expand successfully and effectively while upholding our ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating and providing exceptional person-centred care to adults and children across England and Wales.

With more than 26 years of experience in various healthcare settings, including community care, Clare’s dedication, passion, knowledge, and nursing expertise support TCS in enabling our healthcare professionals to deliver unrivalled person-centred care to the people we support.

In 2021, Thomas became the Chief Nurse and Registered Manager for the complex care at home service at Thornbury Community Services (TCS).

In his role as Chief Nurse, Tom collaborates with our other Chief Nurse, Clare Metcalfe, to ensure we uphold our commitment to delivering exceptional ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated care at home services to individuals in England and Wales.

Tom has over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare sector and at multiple NHS hospitals. Whilst working for the NHS, Tom developed an innovative care pathway for the London Ambulance Service, which aimed to prevent hospital admissions.

Tom’s expertise and experience are instrumental to TCS and the people we care for. He supports TCS in continuously developing our services to support more people to receive care at home.

Greg joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) as Operations Director in 2020.

Greg is responsible for overseeing our Operations Team, which acts as the first point of contact for the people we care for and our team of healthcare professionals.

In his role, Greg empowers his team to provide an ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated service to our extensive team of healthcare professionals and the individuals receiving our care services across England and Wales.

Greg’s background as a certified solicitor, along with his skills and expertise in project management, delivery of operational strategies, and senior-level management of multi-site complex operations, particularly with vulnerable individuals, help TCS provide the very best support to our healthcare professionals an exceptional service to adults and children receiving our care.

James joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in January 2024 as Operations Director for community staffing. Before this position, he held various roles within our affiliated companies under our parent company, Acacium Group.

As Operations Director for the community staffing division, James oversees the Heads of Service, who lead our rapid response businesses. In his role, James works in collaboration with various departments of the business on significant projects and strategies aimed at identifying opportunities for enhanced collaboration among our teams, leveraging technology to improve the quality of care we deliver, nurturing and supporting the healthcare professionals we recruit and continuously developing how we engage with them.

In addition, James also focuses on developing our emerging businesses to effectively compete in the challenging healthcare sector and facilitate the provision of care in other countries or related markets.

Orlagh joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2013 and has been an integral part of TCS since. Throughout her time at TCS, she has accumulated extensive expertise in sourcing and hiring specialist healthcare professionals to provide an exceptional care service.

As Business Services Director, Orlagh oversees the creation, growth, and enhancement of various departments within TCS Business Services. These departments include Customer Experience, Marketing and Workforce Attraction, Workforce Onboarding and Support, Workforce Solutions and Assurance, and Workforce Engagement.

Orlagh has been a key contributor at TCS for more than a decade, playing a crucial role in the growth and development of the business to better support the healthcare sector and enhance outcomes for our employees and healthcare professionals. Orlagh’s skills amplify the Business Services function and assist TCS in providing an ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated service to the individuals we care for.

John Allen joined Thornbury Community Services in 2022 as a Finance Business Partner and has since progressed to Director of Commercial Finance.

In his role, John works closely with various TCS departments to offer strategic and operational analysis of the company’s performance, which supports us in maintaining our ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated standards, enables the business to grow anddevelop, and ensures we continue to deliver exceptional care at home services to adults and children across England and Wales.

John previously worked at Virgin Group for a national healthcare provider for seven years and brings with him an extensive background of financial knowledge and expertise, and account management, which supports TCS in making strategic commercial decisions by utilising budget and forecast data effectively to drive positive changes across the business.

Marcia was previously a part of our parent company, Acacium Group, and joined the business in 2018.

She then moved to a new role with Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in January 2024 as a Senior People Partner.

As a Senior People Partner, Marcia is responsible for creating a people strategy that aligns with the company’s overall strategy and goals. The people strategy aims to ensure all the different teams in the company feel recognised, celebrated, and supported in their roles and enable them to have a lasting career.

An element of Marcia’s people strategy focuses on developing an inclusive company culture that not only retains our existing teams but also attracts new individuals who are passionate about making a difference and share our vision and values. In her role, Marcia also collaborates with designated teams on initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement and retention, thereby reinforcing the overall people strategy.
